This Saturday: The Big 200 Art Show!
There is a not-to-be-missed art event happening this Saturday in downtown Portland. Over 250 artists created artwork on 8″x8″ wood panels, all to be sold for $40 a pop, cash/credit and carry. Travis and I did 10 pieces each. This was my first time working on wood panels, oddly enough. I used oils like usual, not realizing the paint would take so much longer to dry without the canvas to let the paint breathe. With the help of our oven on the warm setting, my paintings all dried in the nick of time. You can see my pieces in the Big 200 album on my Facebook page, and many pieces from various artists have been posted on the People’s Art of Portland‘s Facebook page. The work is AMAZING. I’m impressed by the artwork and the HUGE number of artists taking part in this project. Best of all, this is a benefit so part of the proceeds go to the Oregon Food Bank, and they will also be collecting non-perishable food items to cook up some holiday meals for the Rose City Club (senior citizens) and the SE Parrish on Stark.
The show runs from 2pm-10pm on Saturday December 10th at the Pioneer Place Mall (3rd floor, on the side of the Mall where H&M is- yay!). I have a feeling a lot of the pieces will be bought up quickly by fans of these talented local artists, so come early to snag some amazing holiday gifts that will impress your friends and fam, or come later to check out artwork over a drink. Just be sure to come!
